Roring success

We are delighted to welcome Rory Townsend, Professional Cyclist, as our newest Club Ambassador.

Rory began racing at 14 years old at Hillingdon Slipstreamers, his local club at the time. After persisting for a few years, Rory was selected by the Pedal Haven race team in 2013, of which provided a solid foundation for further progression. When the team turned Professional last year, Rory was ready too.

In 2017, with new team Bike Channel – Canyon, he’s raced all over the UK and Europe, and achieved a fabulous result by winning the overall National Series during the first part of the season at the Lincoln Grand Prix. Rory is now about to begin his first Tour of Britain, the biggest race of the season so far.

If you see Rory on the television this weekend, cheer him on, otherwise join us in congratulating him when you see him around the Club.

Rory says: “Cycling can accommodate riders at any level, it has a strong social aspect within group rides, the competitive element can begin at our local time trial, and best of all there's longevity in the sport.”
