FOXHILLS SET TO HOST THE GB PRO-SERIES

International tennis stars will once again swing into action at Foxhills Club & Resort as the GB Pro-Series returns for a 14th time this summer.

The tournament will take place from Sunday 30th July until Saturday 5th August and will provide a glimpse of some up-and-coming tennis stars in their quest to earn world ranking points.

The GB Pro-Series is a Women’s ITF World Tennis Tour event with a total prize pot of $25,000. Some of the world’s top players, including the likes of Emma Raducanu, will have played at this level of event to sharpen their game ahead of their breakthrough to the world’s top 20.

This event is a popular destination for players ahead of travelling out to North America to qualify for the US Open, and 2023 is likely to prove no different. There promises to be a mixture of established top-200 world ranked players, together with emerging young talent who are climbing the professional tennis pyramid.

Players who have since moved on to the higher echelons of the game have previously competed at Foxhills. 2011 saw former British number one, Johanna Konta, beat Laura Robson in the final. Last year's event saw 21-year-old, Joanna Garland, from Chinese Taipei, claim her maiden singles victory on the ITF World Tennis Tour. She has now risen to 274 in the world having come into last year's event at Foxhills ranked at 385. The doubles provided a crowd pleasing all-British final, with second seeds Freya Christie and Ali Collins pulling through to win in three straight sets against Naiktha Bains and Maia Lumsden to claim their first title as a pair. They are now closing in on the world top 100.

Richard Joyner, the LTA’s tournament director for the event, said: “It was great being able to return to Foxhills last year after a two-year absence due to Covid restrictions, and we are all looking forward to returning this year. The club is always so proactive in its support of the tournament which, together with the fantastic facilities, makes it such a great week for the players and everyone involved.

“It’s certainly a very popular stop-off on the Tour for the players, circled in many calendars as a highlight of the circuit, and this year’s event will again see a strong player line-up, with some world-class tennis promised throughout the week."

Qualifying is scheduled for Sunday 30th and Monday 31st July with the main draw starting on Tuesday 1st August. Both finals are scheduled for Saturday 5th August.

Entry to the event is free of charge for tennis fans throughout the week, ahead of the semi-finals on Friday 4th August and final on Saturday 5th. Fans wishing to attend on the Friday and Saturday have an opportunity to purchase seat-only tickets on the day on a first-come, first-served basis for just £10.

For finals day on Saturday, there is an opportunity to add an extra layer of luxury to the tournament experience with Foxhills’ hospitality package, showcasing its extensive range of culinary delights and outstanding facilities.

Costing £55 for adults (£48 for Foxhills members) and £25 for children (£22 for junior members), hospitality guests can enjoy tea, coffee and pastries on arrival before watching the final matches from reserved grandstand seating. This will be followed by a two-course lunch in Clubhouse and a cream tea post-match.
