An update from our Golf Course & Estates Manager, Derrick Johnstone

Dear Members,

I hope that you are enjoying your golf and the recent hot weather in Surrey; the courses have certainly enjoyed the combination of rain and sunshine.

I’d like to update you on upcoming course works for the three courses over the next three months; specifically areas my team will be focusing on outside of usual weekly works to improve our presentation:

  • Working on improving growth and coverage around greens and approaches for quality of lies for pitching and chipping.
  • Clearing of ditches from scrub debris ahead of winter.
  • Tee box banks re-turfing and edging.
  • Bunker surrounds, high wear areas to be re-turfed
  • Pathway, steps and bridge repairs.
  • Improving playability of Bernard Hunt's 10th hole fairway.
  • Woodland crown raising and removing diseased/dying trees.
  • Verti-draining championship fairways ahead of contractor trop dressing for improved drainage
  • Manor Course tee boxes, ditches and bunkers.

Re-turfed areas will be sprayed as GUR. Please do not push trollies and avoid walking in these areas unless you are collecting your ball.

Please note that you will see more posts and rope around greens to encourage traffic management; please be respectful that we are doing this for the benefit of the members and our green surrounds. If members and guests adhere to directions, we will be in be in great condition in time for spring 2024.

As always, I hope you enjoy your golf and welcome any feedback.
