Foxhills Members Lead the Way in Sustainable Sport: Launch of KitRound x Foxhills

Cheyenne Crombie Wedding Coordinator (44)

On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th October, Foxhills members came together to support a brand-new sustainability initiative, KitRound X Foxhills, by donating pre-loved sports kit and equipment.

Hosted in the Foxhills Library, the event saw an overwhelming response, with members donating golf clubs, tennis racquets, trainers, and all kinds of sportswear.

The London Irish Foundation team were on hand across both days to sort, weigh, and process every item, preparing them to be listed on the Foxhills KitShop via KitRound’s online platform.

A Shared Mission for Change

KitRound’s mission is simple:

“To keep sportswear in circulation, reduce waste, and break down financial barriers to participation.”

Through this partnership, Foxhills, KitRound, and the London Irish Foundation are ensuring every donated item finds a meaningful new life, whether through resale, recycling, or redistribution to those who need it most.

The collaboration aligns closely with the aims of both the London Irish Foundation and the Foxhills Community Camps Charitable Trust, who share a commitment to supporting local communities and helping children access sport regardless of financial background.

What happens to Your Donations

Every donated item is carefully assessed by the London Irish Foundation team.

  • Usable items are sold through the Foxhills KitShop.

  • Damaged or label-free garments are recycled in partnership with the Salvation Army, which operates the UK’s largest polyester recycling plant in Kettering.
There, unwearable sportswear is transformed into pellets that serve as raw materials for new textiles.

  • Items featuring club logos or embroidery are repurposed locally through the Foundation’s youth programmes, ensuring that young people who might not otherwise afford sportswear can take part in sport.

Supporting the Next Generation

Proceeds from the Foxhills KitShop directly support Foxhills Community Camps, which fund free holiday programmes for local children across Surrey.

Organised by Runnymede Borough Council and funded by the Hayton Charitable Trust (with over £200,000 committed until 2025), these camps offer six to fourteen-year-olds, many referred through agencies such as Action for Carers and the Family Support Programme, a safe, active, and joyful space during school holidays.

Ongoing Opportunities to Donate

To make sure everyone can take part, donation drop boxes will be available in the HealthSpa, followed by the Pavilion and Golf areas until 7th November 2025.

This gives members another opportunity to contribute and make a lasting impact.

All donations are carefully sorted for resale, recycling, or redistribution. Together with KitRound’s expertise and the London Irish Foundation’s community reach, your contributions are helping to build a more sustainable future for sport.

Looking Ahead

By the end of 2025, members will receive a 360° impact report from KitRound, detailing the results of this first donation drive, from funds raised to the positive effect on Foxhills’ carbon footprint.

Following the success of this first collection, more donation events are planned for 2026, continuing Foxhills’ commitment to sustainability, community, and inclusion through sport.

Together, We Make a Difference

Thank you to everyone who showed incredible support at the launch of KitRound x Foxhills.

Your generosity in donating pre-loved sports kit and equipment is helping give these items a meaningful new life, supporting both our community and the planet.

Together, we’re proving that small actions, like passing on a pair of trainers or a golf club, can make a big difference.
