What does 2024 have in store for our Junior Golfers?

Looking ahead to 2024, here’s what you have to look forward to as a junior golfer at Foxhills...

Matches

  • Some friendly home and away matches, dates TBC.
  • Our Rookie League journey will have a fresh start, let’s see if we can make the final or even come out with a win.
  • We’ll have the chance to retain our annual matches against Committee and Adults.
  • Let’s see if we can beat the ladies next year, tough opponent!
  • Re-establishing the Foxhills Vs Farleigh grudge match
  • The Christies Cup (Surrey Event)
  • To be eligible for playing in these matches, all players must have an active handicap.

Competitions

  • Our first event next year will be 14th January - a Stableford competition with entries now open on Golf Genius.
  • Dates for the coming season will be released in early January.
  • There will be a new Order Of Merit (OOM) taking place across the season (10 events).
  • Our first OOM qualifier will be the season opener on 3rd March, so let’s try and get a handicap for the coming season.
  • There will also be a chance for juniors to mix with our adult members.
  • We will be hosting our Junior Open OOM where our juniors get the chance to play against juniors from other clubs in a medal format.
  • I am also going to be working closely with a Farleigh representative to Introduce a new event to the schedule called the Marc Hayton Bowl. This will be an individual event that will be held at each venue every other year.
  • Junior competitions entry fee will be £4 as of 1st January 2024
  • To compete in the majority of the competitions, all players will need an active handicap.

Our season opener competition on 3rd March will be open to all juniors that have the ability to play our Manor Course. We will be running two competitions during this event, those without handicaps will be playing on the Manor Course and all with handicaps will be on the Longcross Course. The event will be a shotgun start at 2.30pm on both courses, with a presentation and food afterwards. More details about to event to follow.
